Premium plumbing and leak detection

General leak detection

Before our leak detection engineer attends we will discuss and agree with you the brief to which they will be working. From this brief our engineer will prepare an outline leak detection methodology before they attend.
Appointments are normally booked in the morning for 8.30am, but this is flexible to your requirements. Our engineers are only booked for one leak detection per day.
On arrival our engineer will discuss with you the brief you have provided and get any additional information they require. A visual inspection of property will be carried initially, including familiarisation of the plumbing system. A plan of action will be be formulated from this initial inspection and conveyed to you.
Unlike other companies our engineers are equipped with all the methods and equipment available to locate a leak, including Thermal Imaging, Gas Tracing, Acoustic Microphone, Endoscopic Camera and Moisture Meter. These will be used in conjuction with each other to ensure the leak detection is as accurate as possible and to minimise disruption.
Once the leak has been found we will discuss with you how best it can be accessed and fixed. The majority of repairs can be done same day, including pipes beneath floor finishes such as tiles, laminate and wooden flooring and buried in concrete screed. Sometimes when leaks are hard to get to, such as behind kitchen units, we are unable to carry out a same day repair but we can arrange a follow up visit with the necessary tradespeople.
Once the leak has been repaired the system will be re-tested to ensure the repair is sound and to check for further leaks. If there are multiple leaks further leak detection will be carried out.
Our engineer will record all testing and findings, including photographs, in a report. The report can be used as part of a building insurance ‘trace and access’ or ‘escape of water’ claim.
On completion our engineer will take payment by debit or credit card and issue an email receipt. We also accept cheque and cash. The report will be sent to you by email, normally the following working day once it has been proof read by the office.
If you have suffered water damage from the leak, we will discuss next steps with you. Our team includes water damage specialists who can prepare detailed schedules of repair work and cost estimates. Please see our Water Damage Repairs page for more details.
